Pinkcollar Co-Founders Zenna & Sophia receive 1st place award from Anita Ahmad, CEO of Yayasan MySDG

Pinkcollar has been awarded 1st place in the Gender-Responsive Marketplace category at the 2024 Malaysia Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) Awards during the Gender Action Lab (GAL) Malaysia Summit, held at the Asia School of Business.

Pinkcollar’s ethical recruitment model supports women migrant domestic workers by eliminating placement fees and preventing recruitment debt. By focusing on fair hiring, responsible job matching and ongoing support, we create dignified, safe employment for workers and build trust with employers. Our initiative has helped over 500 women access fair work opportunities while setting a new standard for ethical migrant recruitment in Malaysia.

This award reflects Pinkcollar’s commitment to advancing gender equality both in the workplace and beyond, by promoting ethical recruitment, fair employment, and support for women migrant workers. The 2024 WEPs Awards is part of the new initiative ‘UN Women Gender Action Lab: Innovation and Impact for Gender Equality in Asia-Pacific,’ supported by the Government of Australia. The award was presented by Anita Ahmad, CEO of Yayasan MySDG. The awards recognised innovations in the private sector that promote gender equality in seven categories: Leadership Commitment, Gender-Inclusive Workplace, Gender-Responsive Marketplace, Community Engagement and Partnerships, Transparency and Reporting, Innovative Financing and SME Champions.

In the Gender-Responsive Marketplace category, Julie’s Biscuits received first runner-up, and Earth Heir was the second runner-up. This category honours corporations that embrace a gender-lens throughout their value chains, from sourcing to disposal. It includes championing supplier diversity, supporting women entrepreneurs, and promoting gender equality through progressive programs, marketing, and advertising.

The WEPs is a joint initiative of UN Women and the UN Global Compact aimed at empowering women to participate fully in economic life across all sectors. To date, more than 10,000 companies globally are signatories to the WEPs, with around 2,700 in the Asia-Pacific region.
